Klio Care vs. DocuSign
DocuSign produces a signature CMS will accept. That is the whole list. It does not know what a CMS-485 is, which certification period an order belongs to, which patient it matches, when the recert is due, or that you can bill G0180 for signing it. Klio knows all of that, works with every agency, and sends your billers a monthly report — for $100 a month, less than two DocuSign seats.
Starts at$100per month
Referrals, home health and hospice order signing, monthly G0180 / G0179 report with evidence, AI tools for your agencies, and support — all included.

What DocuSign is
DocuSign eSignature is the generic standard for electronic signatures. Published 2026 pricing: Personal $11 per user per month (5 envelopes a month), Standard $30 and Business Pro $45 per user per month on annual plans, or $45 and $65 billed monthly. Standard and Business Pro include 100 envelopes per user per year; excess envelopes are billed pay-as-you-go. Annual plans billed monthly must be paid out if cancelled after 30 days. A BAA is available on business plans.
For a home health agency sending a handful of orders a month, DocuSign beats paper. For a physician office receiving orders from many agencies it solves nothing: someone at the agency still has to prepare and send each envelope, someone at your office still has to match it to a patient and file it, nobody tracks certification deadlines, and there is no billing evidence.
Where DocuSign is strong
Universality. Everyone has signed a DocuSign envelope, recipients need no account, the audit certificate is legally robust, and it integrates with practically everything. For contracts, consents and HR paperwork it is the default for good reason.
Where Klio wins for physician offices
Purpose-built for home health orders. Klio matches each order to the patient and certification period, tracks the 485 and recert timeline, reminds automatically on a cadence tuned to order aging, and produces a survey-ready audit trail per 42 CFR 484.60 — not a generic envelope.
Billing. Every certification you sign on Klio becomes a line on a monthly G0180 / G0179 report with the timestamped evidence PDF attached. DocuSign has no concept of a G-code.
Referrals and agencies. Klio starts the loop with a complete referral packet and brings every agency onto one network free. DocuSign starts and ends with one document.
Price. $100 a month covers the whole office with no per-seat pricing and no envelope caps. Two DocuSign Business Pro seats billed monthly already cost more.
Klio vs. DocuSign: frequently asked questions
Is DocuSign compliant for home health orders?
A DocuSign signature can meet CMS’s electronic signature standards, and a BAA is available on business plans. But compliance of the signature is necessary, not sufficient: DocuSign provides no patient matching, no certification deadline tracking, no automated chasing, no survey-ready order timeline and no G-code billing evidence.
How much does DocuSign cost for a physician office?
Published 2026 pricing is $30 per user per month for Standard and $45 for Business Pro on annual plans, or $45 and $65 billed monthly, each with 100 envelopes per user per year and per-envelope overage. A practice with a physician, a nurse and a front-desk seat is paying roughly the same as or more than Klio for signatures alone.
Why is Klio better than DocuSign for signing CMS-485 orders?
Klio is built around the home health order: patient and certification-period matching, 485 and recert timelines, automated reminders, a CMS-compliant audit trail, and a monthly G0180 / G0179 report with evidence attached. It also runs your referrals and brings every agency onto one network free. $100 a month covers the whole office with no seats or envelope caps.
Can agencies still send me DocuSign envelopes if I use Klio?
They can, but once you invite them to Klio there is no reason to. Accepting is free, takes minutes, and their orders arrive matched to the patient in your signing queue instead of as loose envelopes.
